Wheeler Bachman, Carr's last president, donated funds to build the Grafton Boy Scout Camp across the Tygart River from the Carr plant.

At one time, the pillars on either side of the drive were decorated with Tygart Dam plates. In addition, as has been found recently (see photos below, contributed by Ed Babcock), the pillars on either side of the shelter and cookout area were decorated with plates from the West Virginia State Parks series.
