We believe this awkwardly topmarked platter was an early piece for Carr, based on the unattractive Dayton House decal and the unusual backstamp that includes Restaurant China Company, a Chicago distributor.

Best guess for location is the Dayton House in Flint, Michigan. It was so named by short-term Flint mayor John C. Dayton when he bought the Brotherton House (hotel) in 1880 and renamed it Dayton House.

Per Larry Paul's database, the hotel was listed in the 1909, 1912, and 1930 Hotel Red Books, and also in the 1930 and 1932 Gehring Hotel Directory. As of 1944, it had 60 rooms.

A colleague from the Restaurant Ware Collectors Network also has a couple of these pieces, and on hers the topmark is properly centered between the rim lines, so this might have been an early attempt at placement.
