West Virginia State Seal - Green

The West Virginia State Seal is most commonly found in black on a Glo-Tan background, so both of these pieces – both made in 1936 – are a little different because of their green seals on white clay. Both shapes are a little harder to find, too.
The bowl at the left is listed in the 1934 Carr catalog under the heading of Nappies, and is a No. 232 Rolled Edge, 8 inches, holding 3 pints. The bowl is actually 8 5/8" in diameter and 3" high.
The 3-inch jelly dish, No. 190 in the 1934 catalog, shown below, is also not a common shape.
Thanks to ebay seller Rhonda Nunley, kentucky-treasures01, for photos of the jelly dish. |
